It's now happened the second or third time that Kodi lost all settings (shares, databases, general settings) during an upgrade.
I'm on Windows 10, Kodi was installed from the store (which didn't seem a bad idea at the time) and don't install betas.
It can't be so difficult to either ask or just make a copy of everything before upgrading.
This is a major no go for me and probably I'll just return to my own folder structure and VLC this happens again.
