Release IPTV Merge
@matthuisman
Thanks for the reply Matt.

"The pattern is the appear in the order they first appear in the playlist from top to bottom."

I thought previously that might be the answer, but it doesn't seem to apply for me:

The first few genres in Kodi's EPG on the Sony TV are, (in order): "All Channels"; "New on Pluto"; "Conspiracy & Paranormal"; "Crime"; "Entertainment"; "Reality".......
Whilst on the Fire Stick, the genres and order are: ""All Channels";"Freesat"; "Movies"; "Sports"; "Kids"; "News & Opinion"; "International".........

In my Pluto-Samsung M3U playlist however, the first few genres and order are: "Documentaries"; "Movies"; "Kids"; "Sports"; "Conspiracy & Paranormal".......

"IPTV Merge Settings > Group Order Override
Type in the names of groups / genres that you want to go first seperated by ;"

That didn't seem to work for me? I have been force stopping Kodi and clearing its cache regularly in the Sony TV's settings, and also running a new "Merge" each time.

"All this option does is adds that line above to the top of the playlist so they become the first groups seen"

I would like to incorporate this in to my own playlist. What exactly is the format of the line and does it go at the very top of the playlist?

eg, the first few lines of my playlist are:

#EXTM3U x-tvg-url="https://i.mjh.nz/PlutoTV/all.xml.gz"
#EXTM3U x-tvg-url="https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/all.xml.gz"
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="pluto-5ad8d1e9e738977e2c310925" tvg-id="5ad8d1e9e738977e2c310925" tvg-chno="728" tvg-logo="https://images.pluto.tv/channels/5ad8d1e9e738977e2c310925/colorLogoPNG.png" group-title="Documentaries",Voyager Documentaries (UK)
http://stitcher-ipv4.pluto.tv/v1/stitch/...pe=samsung

Do I just add All Channels;Movies;Sport;Documentaries;Kids;International; etc above the two "#EXTM3U" lines? I did try that, with just Movies; Sports - but it didn't work either.

Hi Matt,

Unfortunately I'm still having trouble with this. The first few lines of my playlist now say:

#EXTM3U x-tvg-url="https://i.mjh.nz/PlutoTV/all.xml.gz"
#EXTM3U x-tvg-url="https://i.mjh.nz/SamsungTVPlus/all.xml.gz"
#EXTGRP:Classic TV;Comedy;Conspiracy & Paranormal;Crime;Documentaries;Drama;Entertainment;International;Kids;Lifestyle;Motoring;Movies;New on Pluto;News & Opinion;Reality;Sports
#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="pluto-5ad8d1e9e738977e2c310925" tvg-id="5ad8d1e9e738977e2c310925" tvg-chno="728" tvg-logo="https://images.pluto.tv/channels/5ad8d1e9e738977e2c310925/colorLogoPNG.png" group-title="Documentaries",Voyager Documentaries (UK)
http://stitcher-ipv4.pluto.tv/v1/stitch/...pe=samsung

I put the #EXTGRP line third because IPTV Merge complained when I had it as the first line, (Does not begin with #EXTM3U).

I have been force stopping Kodi in the devices' Settings and clearing its Cache regularly, after running IPTV Merge and also re-running Setup IPTV client, but on both of my devices the order of the Genres is unchanged from when I started - but different on each device, (see post #526).

Could there be an issue within my playlist? It is just a combination of the UK and US versions of Pluto and Samsung TV from your site - with some duplicates removed, channel numbers changed and Genre names merged and changed, (eg I have changed all channels that were either "News", "News & Opinion" or "News + Opinion" to a single genre: News & Opinion).

Apart from this genre order problem, the playlist seems to work fine - every channel works!

Is there anything else that I could try?

You need to clear the entire pvr data in Kodi settings I think. There are two clear settings. Do both

Unfortunately that didn't work either.

I found two places to "Clear data", and did both - but still the Genre order is unchanged.

The two locations that I "cleared" were in PVR & Live TV > General, and PVR & Live TV > Guide.

Is there anywhere else that I should be clearing?

Oh wait. Go back to using the Kodi addon setting for groups then clear data. Don't know if merge supports parsing them from files it ingests.

@matthuisman

To clarify, do you mean remove the #EXTGRP line from my playlist, and type them in to IPTV Merge Settings > Group Order Override, (as you said in post #525), then Clear Data in the two locations?

I have tried as per my previous post, but unfortunately there is still no change in the order of the Genres.

Yes, I reverted to that as per your advice earlier in this thread due to problems with v20

I've just tested (kodi 19.5 and PVR Simple 19.3.0) and works fine for me
Add pluto tv as source.
Default order: All channels (thats kodi built-in), Movies, Pluto TV ..... Reality, Crime

set override: Reality;Crime
Run merge
Kodi settings > pvr > clear data

group order in kodi now: All channels, Reality, Crime, Movies, Pluto TV ...

Also tried in Kodi 20, same process except Kodi setting > pvr > clear data > groups > ok

So the difference between what you have just tested and my setup is that you have used your Pluto TV add-on as the source, whereas I am using my own playlist which is a combination of the Pluto UK, Pluto US, Samsung+ UK and Samsung+ US playlists from your site - with some of the channel numbers and genre names changed.

I did this, rather than use your Pluto and Samsung add-ons to make it easier to change the genres of channels, (I have communicated with you about this before and you set up a Github ticket, but I don't think that anything developed from that?).

Can you think of any reason why my playlist works OK, except for this Genre re-ordering issue?
Reply
can you try just following what I did first and make sure get same result?

Can you PM me the merged playlist you get after running a merge?
Its found in the userdata for iptv merge

Update: just pushed plugin.program.iptv.merge -> v0.23.7

that now handles existing EXTGRP in playlists better.
Previously it added those groups to every channel.
It now stores them and then outputs them all the start of the merged playlist.
The group override setting will insert it's one before the others found in the playlists

OK, so I have disabled the existing playlist and EPG sources in Merge, and also the TVHeadend add-on. Ran a Merge then cleared data in both places specified. I now have no channels at all in my EPG.

Next I installed PlutoTV from your repository, and selected "Great Britain". The Genre order in my EPG begins: All Channels, New on Pluto TV, Pluto TV True Crime, Entertainment, Paranormal.

Then I went in to Merge and entered Docs;Kids;News in Group Order Override. Re-ran Merge and cleared data in both locations.

Genre order is now All Channels, Docs, Kids, News, New on Pluto, - so that seems to work OK.

I assume that you want to look at the merged playlist that I get when using my own playlist? How do I PM that to you?

click my name in and then PM me.

Set it all up back how you actually want it.
run merge and then send me the output playlist
