kodi missing Disc icon in main menu
#1
I just installed kodi for the first time.

I have two DVD players, /dev/sr0 and /dev/sr1.

/dev/dvd is a symlink to /dev/sr1

vlc is working. "Settings=>Player Settings=>Discs" exists.

If I enter "kodi /dev/sr1", it plays some small clip from the DVD disc.

There is no icon no matter where I put the DVD.

I am using ubuntu 18.04.

$ kodi --version
17.6 Debian package version: 2:17.6+dfsg1-1ubuntu1 Media Center Kodi from Debian

It should be under Music as long as the condition System.HasMediaDVD is true.

New kodi version:
18.1 Git:20190217-8cfdc89 Media Center Kodi

Disc icon is still missing.

How do I track down System.HasMediaDVD?

Thunar detects which DVD is in the player, and can eject, and update the display of the DVD.  So I think udev is working properly.

This is after grepping the log for dvd:

INFO: * Adding remote mapping for device 'XboxDVDDongle'

DEBUG: Thread DetectDVDMedia start, auto delete: false
DEBUG: CPlayerSelectionRule::Initialize: creating rule: dvd
DEBUG: CPlayerSelectionRule::Initialize: creating rule: dvdimage
