@matthuo, unfortunately, there is not enough information in your post for me to figure out what the issue is.  Are you on Leia or Matrix? Do the posters that do not display in Fanart view display on other views? Do you actually have posters for the items that are not displaying? If so, where are they stored?
Do the posters that do not display show up in Estuary if you switch to it?

Lastly, could you please post screenshots of the issue?  If possible, include also screenshot of the posters displaying correctly on another view or another skin.  Thanks.

Bart

Hello all,

I just uploaded versions 3.4.18 (Matrix) and 3.2.137 (Leia) to GitHub and the Amber repos.

The main change is:

Option to Choose default menu item.  Amber now provides you the option to choose which menu item will be focused when you start Kodi.  To get this working, first you need to enable a new setting here:

Image

This requires script.embuary.helper to work.  If you do not have that addon installed, Amber will prompt you to install it when you enable the setting.

Once the setting is enabled, you will see a new button in the menu configuration dialog, as you can see here:

Image

All you need to do is click that, and go back to the main menu.  You will notice a new label at the top right of the menu configuration dialog, which tells you which menu item is currently the default one.

There are other miscellaneous fixes, and translations have been updated.

Please test, and let me know if you find any issues.  Thanks.

Regards,

Bart

@jdig4240 , now there is an option to choose a default menu item when you start Kodi.  Please see my post here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid3035700

Please test and let me know if this is what you were looking for.  Thanks.

Hello Bart,

I'm a happy and grateful user of your lovely skin. I've noticed you've been very active with github updates and appear to be happy to take feedback on the forum.

There are two slight tweaks I think would be great.

1) Rating overlays like estuary (and night) skin has where you can get the review average at a glance without having to highligh the item first.  (Image attached below.) If possible, it'd be really cool to see that on the homepage widgets too.

2) The real reason your skin is my favorite is the amazing format and details on the very attractive information page. It'd be nice to have the main info page load without calling up the cast so the page loads faster for times I want to just tap the play button. Definitely not a big deal but I love the skin so the best suggestions I can offer are little "tweaks" =)

Thanks

@brviewer, thank you for your kind words.

Both of your requests are doable.  Please let me evaluate how to best incorporate a rating overlay.  As for the second request, I can add an option to not show the cast, but it would have to be a global option, not something you can decide on a movie by movie basis.  Would that be OK with you? Please let me know.  Thanks.

Bart

The global option sounds perfect. I could always pull  up crew through a global context menu for those rare occasions. Thanks so much, Bart!

Hi @bsoriano,

Here are the French translations for the new option to choose a default menu item when starting Kodi.
1. Enable choosing default menu item : Activer le choix de l'élément de menu par défaut
2. Make default menu item : Définir l'élément de menu par défaut
3. Current default menu item :
Élément de menu par défaut actuel :

I did Amber update 3.2.137 last night. I tried the option to choose a default menu item when starting Kodi but it doesn't work.
If I choose a default menu item, for example TV Shows, on startup, Kodi does not display the chosen item by default.
I saw that it was necessary to activate Embuary Helper. It's done and I'm using version 1.5.0 from the Kodi repository.
Could this be a problem with this version of Embuary Helper ?

Another problem since this Amber update. I am using Tvheadend to watch TV with Kodi. When I watch a TV program, I can press the OK button to display the OSD with the title and description of the current program as well as the play buttons.
At this level, no change, everything is displayed correctly.
Image
On the other hand, would it be possible not to display the gray position circle at the top left in the seek bar ?

I can also press the Info button to display the OSD with the title and description of the program.
With Amber version 3.2.137, when I press the Info button, the OSD is displayed with the correct title of the current program but not with the correct description. The description of the following program is displayed.
Image
Can you correct this display problem ?

I made a test in Estuary and with the same program and the same manipulation (pressing the Info key), the title and description displayed are indeed those of the current program.

1. Is TMDb Helper enabled in Amber settings ? Yes
2. Is Embuary Helper enabled in Amber settings ? Yes
3. Is "Show Only Local Info" set to Yes in Amber settings, Video Info ? Yes
4. Is "Only Search in local library" set to Yes in Amber settings, Search ? Yes
5. Please provide exact sequence of steps you followed which led to the issue.  Screenshots would be very useful.
From the video info dialog window of a film, when I click on a director, a screenwriter, a genre or a country, the results window is displayed.
But navigating through the results, the movie title at the bottom stays the same (the one from which I started the research) instead of showing the focused poster title. Like in your screenshot I quoted.
The line below the title (with the duration of a movie) changes correctly depending on the focused poster in the results.
@Cyberdom , thanks for the additional info.  I was able to replicate the issue now.  I have fixed it in version 3.2.136, which I just uploaded to the Amber repo.  Please update, test, and let me know if it is indeed fixed.  Thanks.

Regards,

Bart
Thank you @bsoriano.

...

While performing these tests, I noticed a small display problem with the flags at the bottom of the results.
When looking for a director for example, the flags are displayed correctly at the bottom of the window :
Image

On the other hand, when looking for a genre or a country for example, the flags are slightly cut off at the bottom of the window :

Would it be possible to raise these flags slightly so that they are no longer cut ?

Thanks in advance.
Another thing, have you been able to see to solve this flag display problem ?

Thanks in advance.

@Cyberdom , thanks for the feedback and the translations.

In regards to the issues that you mention:

1. Choosing a default menu item works for me in Leia as well as Matrix, I tested in both.  Yes, as I mentioned in my post, you do need script.embuary.helper (I also have 1.5.0 in Leia) installed and enabled in your system for this to work, you need to enable the new setting to be able to choose a default menu item, and then you need to go into the menu configuration and press the "Make Default Menu Item" button.  You should see the label on the top right that says "Current Default Menu Item: " and the label of the menu item you chose as default.  After that, go back to the main menu, and, whenever you quit Kodi and restart, the menu should be positioned on the item you chose as default.

2. The seek slider should not have been there for PVR when the OSD is shown, I will remove it.

3. I will fix the plot shown for PVR, the current programme plot should be shown if available.

4. I will fix the flags issue, it had slipped my mind, so thanks for reminding me.

I will push a new version to the Amber repo for Leia today.

Bart

I did all of that and everything displays correctly in Amber's settings but when I quit and restart Kodi, the menu item selected by default is not showing.
