Emby Server setup but Kodi not seeing content
#1
Hmmm, I thought I followed the tutorials correctly but I'm not seeing any content in Kodi, here's what I did
  1. Installed Emby server on my NAS, set appropriate permissions, added my libraries for music, movies etc
  2. Let it run until it completed its full scan
  3. Set the optional path substitutions on the libraries
  4. Installed EmbyCon add-on in Kodi, it scanned, found the emby server and connected
  5. Restarted Kodi
Now if I choose Ad Ons --> Video Ad-Ons -> EmbyCon -> Open I see my libaries, I can chose one (say movies) and all my movies will show and if I select one it will play, so that part all seems to be working

But how do I get this content to show up on the main Kodi homescreen like it used to when I had this setup with MySQL? I feel like I'm missing something stupid so apologies in advance for the dumb qst

Embycon and Emby for Kodi are two different add-ons.

But why would I want to use that and have to keep on with using a local database (in this case the Kodi database)? The whole point of emby is that it's supposed to manage all that shit so you don't have to. I switched specifically because I grew frustrated with the mysql option, this sounds like just a reboot of that, no thanks

Emby is the central point. The add-on manages the content in Kodi for you, to be in sync with your Emby user account.

What are your concerns?
