v18 Kodi v18 doesn't remove OSD after a certain time like it used to do
#1
Hello everybody,
I am running Kodi v18.2-RC1 (yesterday's update) on a RPi-3 and I am using my TV remote through the SimpLink.
I used to be able to get out of the OSD when playing a video and downloading new subtitles for instance: I just had to wait a few secs.
As I don't have a button for that on my remote, that was super-useful.
But it seems that with the new upgrade, the Video-OSD doesn't vanish after a certain amount of time and stay stubbornly on for the duration of the video.
Do you knowledgeable people have a solution for that?
I can do with a setting, or a keymap for the remote.xml file (I tried to look for something like that but I couldn't find anything remotely close).

Thanks a lot!
Phil.

I don't remember the OSD going away while a video was playing but I'll take your word for it.  I probably never waited long enough for it to disappear.  I've always mapped the OSD to the Guide button on my remote control when a video is playing.  That way I can turn it off/on as desired.

Thanks a lot for your reply, jbinkley!
Do you happen to know the command to remove the OSD so I can map it to one of my remote keys, please? Is it simply OSD ?
Thanks a lot.

Since the latest 18.2 I’m experiencing the same thing. Playback starts with the osd on and I have to remove it every time.
Never had it show before unless I chose during playback.
Thought it was a skin issue but have gone back to estuary and it’s the same.

I run the Keymap editor Kodi addon.  I map the OSD command in video to the Guide button on my remote control.  Here's the raw keymap file entry:
