How to add movies / series to TMM?
#1
When I have new movies I move the files (without folders) to the movie folder and click "update the data sources", click to scrape the movies and TMM creates a folder in the main movie folder for each movie and downloads the movie data (is this the best way to add movies to TMM?). That does not seem to work for series. How should I do it with them?

TMM creates a movie folder upon rename/cleanup, not on updating/scraping Wink
This is due to the default renamer pattern (which can be changed)

TV Shows work same, but we only see files in their TVShow folder.
(How else should we match some S01E20.avi to show XXX ?!?)
So just move your episodes at least in correct show folder....

Is there a better / easier way than I described above?

Because the name of the series is contained in the file name(s).

So one has to manually create the series folder for each series?

Where is the counterpart for series:

The episodes are not autmatically renamed here after moving them in the folder with the name of the series and the data sources updated.

What do you expect?
How should we make it even more easier?

Episode matching is already that hard, we cannot allow a single false match here.

Yes, at least once, so that you are able to scrape it.

Edit:
automatic rename for TVshows is already available for V3
I'm sorry, you have to do a click more in V2.
Feel free to automate your process via command line switches....

Nothing special.

Sorry, I do not know. May be one just could drag and drop the movie files over TMM and it then moves them to the movie folder, scrapes, renames them, creates their movie folders. Or TMM automatically could check a special folder, e.g. a download folder and if there are new movies / series it could the steps mentioned before.

Drag and drop - in which of your 1..N datasources should we copy this? Or should we move?
So then we need another popup, for a datasource chooser?
And some settings since other people want to move instead of copying?
And....
Way too much work for just a simple task for you of copying a file.....

watched folder is also a no-go.
WHEN should be treat a found movie as complete?

As said before, automatic rename for TV is only available in V3...

C'mon....
TMM is a tool, and aids you in doing some heavy things.
Keeping this alive is already more work than we have spare time left.
Doing everything automatically is not our intend... don't be _that_ lazy....

May be move in that one for that the option choosen or TMM asks when dragging the / a movie(s).

Yes, that would be a possibility, I could imagine.

Quote: And some settings since other people want to move instead of copying?
May be not necessarily, why duplicating a movie?

Quote: Way too much work for just a simple task for you of copying a file.....
Yes, may be such an option is not that useful.

After downloading? When the extension is correct. E.g. avi, mkv, not .part.

Ah sorry, I must have overlooked that.
