Whitelist resolution switching problems
#1
Kodi is not switching to whitelisted resolutions for some content even though there is an exact resolution match.

Have following resolutions whitelisted /w desktop of 1920x1080p59.94:

3840x2160p60, 3840x2160p59.94, 3840x2160p50, 3840x2160p30,
3840x2160p29.97 3840x2160p25, 3840x2160p24, 3840x2160p23.98

1920x1080p60, 1920x1080p59.94, 1920x1080p50, 1920x1080p30
1920x1080p29.97, 1920x1080p24, 1920x1080p23.98

Examples using publically available content:
https://4kmedia.org/lg-greece-and-norway-uhd-4k-demo/

Content is 3840x2160p29.917 yet runs in Kodi as 1920x1080p60 never switching to 4k.

If there is not an exact frame rate match and Kodi is going to use 60hz anyway
should pick the 60hz at the whitelisted content resolution (3840x2160 in this case) as best match.

ISS 4k HDR demo

This one is a bit weird as frame rate changes during video.

Content starts out as 3840x2160p24.016 displayed in Kodi as 1920x1080p60.

About 10 seconds later content frame rate changes to 3840x2160p24.000 and Kodi
switches resolutions to 3840x2160p24 at that time during playback.

My Kodi.log which includes playing both of the above videos.

Try to whitelist only the 3840x2160p.  Don't for the 1080p's.  Provided you have a 3840x2160p display.

Tried removing all 1080's from whitelist but still not switching.  From my read of the log it's falling thru without matching anything in the whitelist because no framerate exists which closely enough matches the contents rate.  Looks like a bug in Kodi Sad

It's known - was caused for 18.2

Install the nightly from tomorrow and it will switch again.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

If the frame rate switches during playback I can imagine it might cause issues especially if the displays circuitry is running on a chipset that can't handle it.

Just curious, Is there a 4K HDR clip that is a standard test clip everyone might be using?
