Minimum Processor (AMD/Intel) that plays HVEC 10bit at 4K in 2019?

Hello guys, quick question since I no longer see the build your PC thread. What is the minimum processor, from AMD and Intel, that can play HVEC 10bit at 4k? Thank you!

Going with the latest Ryzen chips and their prices, I'd go for AMD 5 2400G. Intel: any UHD 600 series igpu will do AFAIK.

Basically yes, most new Intel Core i3/i5 now have UHD 620 or 630 onboard. The new Core i3 9100 is nowhere in sight though.
And faster chips won't play your videos any faster, if that's what you're hoping for. Smile

Thanks, no, I am actually looking for the cheapest option. I thought the Ryzen 3 line was able to do it.

Cheapest option would be one of certain new Android boxes.
If you want to go cheap, why go for an x86-64 PC?

Because I will also add hard drives to the HTPC, and with an Android box is a pain.

If you're interested in CPU Software Decoding, I can vouch that an i5 4590 can do all my 24hz UHD remixes around 80-95% without dropping frames.  I have a 4.4ghz overclocked i7 3770K that does it much better too.  That said once you get into 30hz and high bitrates like 120mbps or higher, with the Jellyfish examples, it starts to go to hell.  However I've been yet to find a UHD Remux that I could not playback.

 And I won't deny that hardware options can do better. Even my light weight laptop's i7 7500U, using the IGP, can hardware decode things that make my 3770K bury the needle. But just providing info for aproximate benchmarks when doing software decoding.

G4600 with UHD 630 onboard may be cheaper than Ryzen 3

Why not look at 'Android' ARM SoC boxes or ARM SBCs but not running Android but instead running LibreElec or CoreElec?

They are by far the best route currently for watching HDR 2160p HEVC content with HD Audio bit streamed.  The ODroid N2 is getting a lot of love.
