I got tired of system updates being a hassle on my Fedora based Kodi box, so I put together this plugin:
https://github.com/ossman/service.system.update
https://github.com/ossman/service.system...master.zip
It behaves like gnome-software in that it downloads everything and does the actual update during a reboot to avoid conflicts with running programs. It is based on PackageKit so it should work on most systems, but I've only tested it on Fedora 30 so far.
I can't really be bothered to get it to a state where it can be added to the repos right now. But it is functional so I figured I'd post it here for others to try.
Feel free to post pull requests if you want to add more polish to it.
