Audio Issues after system and kodi upgrade
#1
I recently upgraded my server to Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and updated Kodi. Previously I have had no issues with sound and actually on upgrading when I played a movie it initially worked. I then installed a skin (which I have now removed) and some addon updates, something broke the audio and I'm not sure what.

I disabled both the skin and addons (renamed the folders for both) and even went and reinstalled kodi again but it seems sound is gone! I have no sound with the default skin without any additional addons enabled so not sure what the problem is now.

I am running the below,

:

Kodi (18.4 Git:20190831-3ade758).
Platform: Linux x86 64-bit
Kernel: version 4.15.18
Host CPU: Intel® Atom™ CPU D525 @ 1.80GHz, 4 cores available

The debug log is below,

Debug Log

I tried looking at some of the previous posts on similar issues but none seemed to help. Any pointers would be welcome.

Thanks!

Probably a NVidia issue. Have you tried an older NVidia driver? Probably 304.x

HDMI?
Try this, it worked for me on LibreELEC:
Play 2.0 audio (like a radio station).
While playing 2.0:
- set audio out to Alsa default
- set audio out to 2.0 channels.
- enable passthrough.
- select HDMIx for passthough (replace x with your desired out).
- switch audio out from Alsa Default to HDMIx.
You should have 2.0 audio now. Put in a 7.1 movie and start playing it.
Switch audio out from 2.0 to 7.1.
Your AV receiver should pick it up.
Mine did and it seems to be persistent across reboots as well.
I am guessing it may have something to do with HDCP negotiations (or the lack thereof) over the HDMI link; and this cycle might be the fix.
Try it, won't take but a few minutes.
Good luck!
