When I hit the tech info button then Kodi tells me the movie playing is 962x736. But it is 720 really. Just wondering, why Kodi thinks it is 736? The container is MKV, video is H.265. All movies encoded using SW encoder show up as 720, all movies encoded using nVidia hardware encoding show 736, but only in Kodi. Every other tool tells me 720. Just curious ...

it's a macroblocking thing. macroblock size is 32, and 720 is not divisible so it has to be extended to the closest size which is 736. it's just a matter of which information is presented, it is scaled back to the correct size for display.
