Maybe you confused that with it's upscaling ability? On the previous models it was a notch behind the competition. This has been remedied with the new model.

Well not totally because there are still some AI upscaling limitations, especially for those that watch broadcast interlaced TV:

But much better vs the non 2019 Shields Smile
From the comparisons I have seen. The new basic is the same and the 2017 model, the new enhanced is comparable to competing products. And AI is something else.
I believe enhanced mode works all the time.

Here is a good guide to disabling the netflix button.

Don't forget to enable Button mapper in: settings >> device preferences >> Accessibility >> button mapper "On"

Got it?
I sense this a hint to something I understood incorrect.
Please elaborate, I still read it as you should whitelist 3840x2160(4k), this I did. But there are several posts containing this res, but with all the different refresh rates.

Enable all 3840x2160 resolutions at all refresh rates.

Have you enabled refresh rate switching?

Yes, "on start/stop".
Tested without as well, no change.

What resolution/refresh rate is the video you're playing?

I like the specs and the sound of the 2019 Shield. I’m wondering how you guys have handled shifting to other Android boxes or moving from the old shield to the new, or if you have had to perform a factory reset? How have you gone with backing up and transferring skins and settings?

Having used Kodi on Windows for so long I have a very customised Aeon Nox skin, several customised add ons, several SMB shares etc. If I’ve ever had to wipe my HTPC it’s been as simple as backing up the config files and transferring them across. That’s probably the biggest hesitation I have switching over to an Android box as the setup time for me would be several hours to get everything back the way it was from scratch. If an android box stuffs up and I have to factory reset I really don’t feel like having to spend hours setting everything up again when I could just copy and paste on a Windows HTPC and be up and running again in less than an hour.

There's a Kodi Backup addon.

I think Odroid N2 and Apple TV 4K are very similar. From my testing I would say that it's better not to use AI Enhanced High or Medium. Both of them are producing ringing artifcat.

I fixed this by enabling "Allow hardware acceleration - Media Codec (Surface)", which is disabled by default.
Thanks for your assistance Smile

Yes I agree. I too was surprised by the great picture output quality of the N2.

For the 2019 Shield - I’m reading a lot lately about AI Enhanced High or Medium over sharpening the picture outputs too.
Users with modern Premium TV’s seem to prefer letting the 4K TV do the picture processing.

Depends on how big the display is, and how close you sit to it too to even notice such artefacts.
