It seems it does a lot of things, but they are all a little bugged... What a pity!
I haven't found a single issue with my 2019 Shield
EDIT: actually that's not true, there was a small bug with google location services that meant the iPlayer and some other apps kept randomly disappearing from the home menu.
The fix was to disable location services in the shield settings and all is well with the world again!
