Android NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (2019 new model)

Recently, I’ve been using Plex for media library management with the Plex add on. The problem I have is that although Kodi can play the content without Plex, transcoding is triggered. HEVC 4K is transcoded to H264 4K, and Plex is transcoding the audio to AC3 instead of Kodi transcoding it.

The only custom settings is to set audio to 2ch, Passthrough enabled, and AC3 transcoding enabled. The MrMC fork does not have this issue. Is there a setting I’m missing? Perhaps the upcoming version of Plex which allows disabling transcoding will fix this as well.

Although that sounds like a Plex issue and not Kodi, look for direct play and enable that. I am sure your settings can be tweaked to get it working correctly.
