Just after the above posting, the new lirc 0.10.1-6.1ubuntu1.1 was made available as a regular update (at 2020-05-19 20:13:17 UTC). I updated my copies, both 0.9.0 and 10.0 versions, and they came up as the ubunut1.1 version. Installs/updates had no problem. Still experimenting how to make the 10.xxx version to work properly with Kodi.

I seem to be in the same boat.

I just installed Ubuntu 20.04 and Kodi. My MCE remote has limited button working (Enter, Back, Up, Down, Left, Right). Not the end of the world because it's still usable but I would like to improve it.

Installed Lirc and it made no difference in Kodi. "apt-cache policy lirc" shows 0.10.1-6.1. Still need to search more so I can figure how to configure Lirc.

I used this in both Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 and it works perfect in both.
