20 Nov 2019 - TVDB Scraper v3.2.0 is now available which reinstates scraping. TVDB are still in the process of fixing a number of bugs so there may still be further breakages. See this post. 2901570 (post)

TV show not showing in library
#1
Hi i have Kodi 18.3 running on a raspberry pi and I'm having trouble getting some TV shows to show up.  They show in the file manager but not in the library.  I've checked the post  **** READ FIRST- Library and Scraping Problems ****  and it didn't solve the issue.  My log file is located here:

lemusehero (paste)

The TV show is Young Sheldon S03E05.  My folder structure is:
TV Shows --> Young Sheldon-->season 3-->Young Sheldon.S03E05.A Pineapple and the Bosom if Make Friendship.mkv

I've had this trouble with other shows we can use this as the example.  The scraper I'm using is The Movie Database and The TVDB both are up to date.

just a brief explanation of the issue.

- I add a show on the hard drive
- in the side menu i select "update library"
- the show isn't added with the rest of the same shows.

Thank you very much for any help in advance and please let me know what other information you need.

Jeremy

When you do a debug run, always restart Kodi first for a clean log file. A log file containing multiple days of Kodi use is not always helpful.

Is your Kodi device having trouble accessing TMDB, is your router having DNS problems?

I don't think so.  it's finding some TV shows just not all. what would be a good way of testing that?

I rebooted and here's an updated log file.

You don't have debug mode enabled from the start of the log, so there is nothing to see. There is no mention of Young Sheldon.

Try again, making sure you capture the problem in the log.

Ok, better. Unfortunately there is just a generic message for Young Sheldon...
VideoInfoScanner: Skipping dir '/media/My Passport/TV Shows/Young Sheldon/' due to no change
Which means Kodi has ignored it because it has scanned it before, and will continue to ignore it until something new happens with the folder.

You need to delete the show from your library. If you cannot see it, then enable setting 3.6 (and leave it enabled)... https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Vi...y_TV_shows
(if it is not in your library, then move the folder out of \TV Shows\, then run a scan in Kodi. Then exit Kodi and put the show back.)
Run a Clean Library.
Now create the Debug Log again exactly as you did the previous one, and scrape the TV Show again. This way Kodi will see a change and be forced to scan it. As it is being scanned, the log will reveal what the scanner is doing and why it is not scraping.

Also, it looks like you set the entire drive as a Source in Kodi, which is a no-no. Your source should be set on the TV Shows folder. If you look through your log you can see it is scanning everything, system files, recycle bin etc. This slows down the scrape and puts unnecessary pressure on websites hosting the information and providing it for free.

Okay removed the show, did what you said and after i added it back it's showing up..  ill wait until it happens next time and then send a log fine.

for the issue of having my entire drive as a source could this be because my movies are not in a "movie" folder but just under the main drive.?  My TV shows are in a folder named "TV shows"

That's not a wise decision. This way the movie scanner will also scan the TV folder for new items.
You should create 2 main/root folders on your drive: movies and tvshows.
Each will have their own content setting, so Kodi can see the difference between the two of them.

Even worse, you have a source as a sub-source of another source. You are looking for problems, ghost entries, failed scrapes...

Read the Source section here... Naming_video_files (wiki)

okay ive clearly screwed this all up.  Smile  form reading the wiki i think this is a proper way of setting up the folders.  can you confirm?
DRIVE:
-->Movies (source folder)
-->-->movie 1
-->-->movie 2
-->TV shows (source folder)
-->-->TV show1
-->-->-->season 1
-->-->-->-->S01E01
-->-->TV show 2
-->-->-->season 1
-->-->-->season 2

i hope this is the correct way.  and again thanks for all the help.

Yep, that looks good.

A main TV Show source folder and then a folder for each tv show inside that. Don't nest tv show folders. ie, c:\tv shows\genre\a-k\The Expanse won't work. It has to be c:\tv shows\The Expanse, Kodi will only read two levels down from the Source folder (\The Expanse\Season 1)
(also, it does not have to be named TV Show. It can be any name. Same with Movies)

We recommend movies are in movie folders- ie c:\Movies\Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)\Hitman's Bodyguard (2017).mkv
You can place all your movies in one folder (flat folder structure) but some add-ons don't like that, and it can quickly become a mess and unmanageable.

The folder screenshots in the sub-pages of that link I posted earlier should explain it.
