What effect are you looking for, perhaps there is work-round that might be more effective?
Hi PatK, apologies for not posting in the correct section, I thought Kodi at its core supported animated fanart and it was on the Skin to display it.
I have had a fiddle with the methods you linked and could get animated posters to display by manually selecting them via the choose art setting.
What I was really after was for Transparency! to automatically display like MQ8 does.
