Solved Problem scanning some flac to library
#1
Hi

Some flac I can't scan to my library. Normaly I tag my flac with easytag. But it looks like this will not work in certain situations and flac files. After I notice the mistake, I have to boot my old windos pc and retag the flac with mp3tag. After that, the flac scanning to library is no problem. I checked a flac before and after tagging with mp3tag in a hex editor and the only thing I can determine is, the order of the tagfields and the upper-/lowercase of the tagfields. Does anyone have a guess where the problem could be? I could also provide the two files if this help and it is allowed.

Thanks

I have memories of user having issues with Easytag before, at least that it does not show all the tags that are present in a file, and I'm unsure about multi-frame support. Seems that when tagging FLAC files Easytag is naming them in a way that Kodi is not seeing them as the tags it wants.

Lowercase metadata for Xiph/Vorbis tag names could certainly be the issue. The standard use is uppercase see https://xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html, Picard tag mapping https://picard.musicbrainz.org/docs/mappings/ and Kodi code is case specifc on this too.

You could raise it with EasyTag, it is an open source project, but does not seem to have been updated since 2016. Otherwise  Mp3tag or Picard would be my recommendations that do tag FLAC files

Look for puddletag, OpenSource mp3tag clone

Hey, thank you both for the help. So if easytag is not updated since 2016, I should probably use another tagger. Puddletag looks great. I really liked mp3tag on windows and puddletag looks very similar.

Puddletag is a mp3tag clone, that's why they look similar :-)
