On version 1.8.0 and tearing is still a problem with HDR videos.  Power management mode is set to maximum performance.  I tried setting vertical sync to Fast, and that eliminates the tearing, but introduces a ton of stuttering so that video is unwatchable.
Sorry, I meant to say I'm on version 1.9.0.

Can you try version 1.8.1 with v sync set to fast as I am unsure how that played back, version 1.9 was also unstable for me

1.8.1 with v sync on fast is actually better.  No tearing.  Some frame drops and skipping though, so still not great.

so you suggest to spend the limited resources of developers like jogal and fandangos on v18 instead of trying to get it in good shape so that it can be merged into v19?

Thank you so much for continuing this fork/Improvement

I have question, I have always bad colors (too dark) with DXVA process for HDR to SDR content, pixel shaders is better but it's little too grey (Radeon RX570, drivers 20.1.3)

With MPC-BE + madvr image is perfect.

My tv have 10 bit panel ; On the amd radeon settings panel , i need set 8/10/12 bit ? YCbCr 422 or 444 ? on kodi I set full Range for colors.
Philips 65OLED804 (4K HDR10+/Dolby Vision) / Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro with Kodi 20 Nexus Marven for DV / Onkyo TX-NR474 + Jamo 809 Pack 5.0 + Sub Jamo 912

You will always get the best image if you play HDR content with HDR mode "on" and SDR content with HDR mode "off - additionally this gives you the possibility in your TV to have different settings for HDR and SDR on that physical input for color, contrast enhancement, brightness etc...

As far  adapter setting go ist probably bet to set RGB full and 10 or 12 bit and Kodi to full as well.

Thank,
My tv don't have HDR. HDR mode on windows is always off.
My tv have same settings for all content bluray 1080p, 4k, tv show.
The best way for the moment is MPC-Be with Madvr.

I'll try RGB full

Come on, jogal, I've supported you all the way so far but name calling is never a solution, always a problem.

The idea of having external addons to implement stuff not supportable by the main branch is a sound one. Why did you refuse it? If the addon is in the official repository it would be almost transparent, for everybody interested enough.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first (usually it's enough to follow instructions in the second post).

Nah, reasoning with this guy is useless, it's a pity that all the knowledge and skill he does have is totally useless because he thinks he is a genius beyond our understanding, a one of a kind, the best programmer of all times, for whom opinions of other people are worth less than dog shit.
Totally not a team player.
I'll add in spanish too: "Es un creido" (A vain, too proud of himself person)

Guys no need for this, I've already warned him not repeat such name calling if he wants to keep this thread going. Can we keep discussion on this thread focused on the fine work done by jogal.

Yep. And you already warned him a couple of posts above. No need for a 2nd warning about the same post

Well the code for HDR isn't going to exclusively work on v19.
And since the HDR code isn't going to be merged in v19 it'll be a while until it's is going to be merged, v19.x or v20 - who knows.
On top of that it will take a while for v19 to catch on since the python 3 change makes many add-ons unusable, so many users might stay on v18 londer than usual.

Since there have been python 2 compatible builds of both HDR versions I think it's a fair question to ask under those circumstances. If it is hell of a lot of work to get it to compile with v18 then someone just needs to say "no" and it'll be fine. But maybe it will compile just fine with v18, I don't know and that's why I asked
