A bit of Googling always helps a little...

Does the GTX 1050 support HDR?

Alas, even though Nvidia's 900-series of GTX graphics cards are capable of producing an HDR image, you'll need one of the 1000, 1600 or RTX 2000 series to make use of Nvidia's G-Sync HDR standard - specifically, the GTX 1050 or higher.

Able to play HDR and/or perform HDR to SDR tone-mapping are different things, easily to confuse them.

Erm, this is specifically the G-Sync HDR, which is a bit of a difference.  The 1050 will in fact totally do HDR10 output over HDMI at 4K@60, even the GT 1030 will do it.  No problem.

HDR and Gsync however, yeah that's a different animal but not really a 'Home Theater' thing either.

Same with a GTX 960.

2GB for 4K video can be small. More precisely, the video card will pull, but there is a great chance of overloading and, accordingly, overheating of the video card chip. I would prefer to take a more powerful video card, at least 4GB.

Yes It can handle videos only, 1050 has max resolution of 2160 but gaming on 4k is not possible. Although the video won't play so smooth.. It's better to upgrade the card.

There are also throttling mechanisms as an overheating protection.
Frankly, I have to see the first discrete graphics card (thus not the RPi4...), that will overheat from (4K) video play.
Either your PC casing has pretty poor airflow, or the graphics card is faulty.

Good luck finding a better graphics card for a normal price these days.
And please leave gaming out of the parameters. This is not a gaming forum.

I'm not sure, maybe the components in the computer just don't match. I'm not an expert. But there were problems with overheating when watching videos and playing World of Warcraft in the summer.
