Newer version for raspbberyPi/Raspbian
#1
I use I use Kodi 18.2 on a raspberry, on raspbian and installed IPTV Siple Client using:
sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-iptvsimple

However it looks like I have a very old version (3.5.7) compared with the latest versions I see on github? Is there a way to install newer versions (I'm specifically looking for the autoeload m3u file feature)

You need to run kodi 19.

There are testbuilds of libreElec. Not sure how you would run this on rpi otherwise unless you build it yourself.

You say this because  M3U auto refresh is only added to matrix versions?
So on Leia versions, how/when is the M3U refreshed (if I disable the cache option)? If I pull the M3U locally, will it be read each time I access channel list?

On Leia I think it's only loaded on start and a change of settings. The main issue is that it's not always reliable. Hence the changes in the matrix version.
