How to connect a computer to Kodi??
#1
I hope I am posting this in the proper forum, and more importantly, I hope my question makes sense...

I have Kodi installed on a Fire Cube and on a Windows computer, both on the same Wifi network.  Kodi works great when I want to play music I have on a SanDisk USB Drive connected to the Fire Cube.  But I wish to be able to access music that's on a drive on a computer.  I know this can be done with Plex, but I've grown to hate Plex.  I like Kodi a lot, and hope that I can do this.

Just to be clear, I don't use Kodi for any illegal purposes.  All I want to do is play my music on the Fire Cube, using a local computer as a server.

Thanks,

Pam

There's probably another way to do it, but as you are familiar with Plex I'd suggest trying Composite, which uses Plex via the Kodi GUI

Thanks, but the problem is not sharing files in Windows, I already have that setup.  I'm trying to find a way for Kodi to be able to connect to a computer on my network.

When you have Windows' SMB share(s) running, then you can use Kodi's "Add network location" to add your SMB source, and move from there on.
