Video Juddering / stutter and audio channel mixup with 5.1 audio setting on pi4
#1
Hi,
I've been faced with a weird playback stuttering/juddering problem for 23.975 fps content on KODI 18.5 on Buster in my case, but also the same on recent versions of LibreELEC. The problem and a workaround is also described in this thread. The stutter occurs only when the output oudio channels are set to 4.0 or higher, and KODI does not display any dropped or skipped frames, but very obvious stutter is visible on the screen. At the same time, the audio channels of the surround sound are sometimes mixed up in a random manner, such that e.g. the center channel comes out of the right speakter in the output mix, as decoded by my Receiver. It seems to work properly if settings are set for passthrough audio, and the audio format is supported. Sync refresh rate to video frame rate is enabled, and the connected projector sets the refresh rate correctly to 24 Hz.

I add the following debug logs of a short demo file playback using various audio settings:
2.0 audio setting, passthrough (works fine): https://paste.kodi.tv/mifucepiha.kodi
2.0 audio setting, no passthrough (works fine): https://paste.kodi.tv/utizoduqod.kodi
5.1 audio setting, passthrough (works fine): https://paste.kodi.tv/awujufujov.kodi
5.1 audo setting, no passthrough (one obvious stutter and center audio channel swapped with right one): https://paste.kodi.tv/ozidoceqod.kodi
