Not able to start Kodi- it immediately closes on os catalina
#1
Hi there
Hope Im in the right place for this post.
I downloaded Kodi 18.6 Leia 64 bit with no problems, on my Macbook Pro running Catalina.
But when I try to run Kodi, nothing happens. No error, nothing!
(I tried to post the crash report from my Log with paste.kodi.tv, but wasn't able.. so someone please help me with that too.)
I tried to follow an old instruction here in the forum on Kodi 17 not launching, but it didn't help.
I once had Kodi on my mac with an older OS and Id love to have it back.
Please help
cheers
Nico

  • try running Kodi with right-click - open
  • try running it from terminal, it would probably print some output: assuming that Kodi is installed in /Applications, type the following and press Return/Enter:
    Code:
    /Applications/Kodi.app/Contents/MacOS/Kodi

Dunno about MacOS, but that error on Linux generally means that Kodi doesn't have write permissions to all the directories it needs.  Maybe something for you to look into ?
Learning Linux the hard way !!

/Users/nico99mastro/Library/Logs - does this folder exist? if no, create it.

..Yes, it exists, and there is folder in it with diagnostic reports- and there is the following Kodi crash report:

 https://paste.kodi.tv/about.md

Did I post this Log right? can you read it? if not how do i post with below suggested https://paste.kodi.tv/

cheers Nico

no, the URL is broken. you should post file contents (select all - copy - paste).

about.md sounds like a markdown file, not a Kodi log.

oh i see. Thought its not liked here to post logs like this, but since I don't know how to do it otherwise, here you go with my Kodi crash report, found in Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/Kodi_2020-03-24-222203_Nicolas-MacBook-Pro.crash

update: managed to read it up how to correctly post logs.
Here you go:

Just to let you know: I made an update on my computer, and then it suddenly started working again.
Thanks again for the help.
