Currently use ing MX 111 4K Android box , from memory about 6 years old, never had firmware update! I am basically useing for movies n tv shows, but lot buffering happening! Not much experience in all this but do you recommend I update to better box ? Or is fire stick better

You could try to install LibreELEC on to a microSDHC card if you have a AMLogic chipset S812 MXIII:

I've just updated a old mxq box with s805 to alexelec which is basically a modded libreelec using this guide here it also works for s812 boxes. It was a old box in the cupboard but now is running like a dream.
