BACKGROUND:
This has been going on for a while but now it has taken a serious turn for the worse.
For quite a while now, (maybe since version 17?) when playing a file from Youtube, the first one would play fine, the next selection would, more often than not, fail after the first few seconds of play; the screen would freeze for perhaps 30 seconds and not reliably respond to the remote, then would fall back to the video selection screen. At that point I could usually play the 2nd video succesfully and likewise any videos after that would be fine.
Now however, it has the same pattern in that 1st vid is fine, if there is going to be a problem it will be the 2nd vid, but now it trashes the internet connection, though I don't know in what way. Furthermore, Kodi just becomes completely unresponsive, frozen on screen a few seconds into the vid. Task Manager shows Kodi is actively doing something but is not responding. I have to kill it (really piling up the crash logs).
MY EFFORTS SO FAR:
If I disable/enable the Network connection it will reconnect but the same thing will happen again very quickly; I've also "netsh reset" which (maybe) gets a few more vids in before failure. The router claims the PC is still connected but it is not talking. Windows Troubleshooter just resets it as well. Kodi debug log doesn't appear to point to any network issue, just a sudden inability to load texture files it wants from the stream. I have replaced cables and changed router ports, disconnected various combinations of other devices (even though it only affects Youtube), changed skins, changed over to my own Youtube API. I am honestly at wits end.
Try turning off autoplay suggested video in Youtube settings
Thanks for the reply; I checked and that setting was already turned off. I usually chose my vids from the "My Subscriptions" menu and jusrt select one to play, then find another I want to play. Actually I have played 4-5 vids today with no failures but that happens once in a while. Also forgot to mention that I also use the Twitch app a lot and I haven't had this issue crop up on it so far.
