good evening all, i will supply a log tomorrow and a video to show it better but wanted to get the thread going
I have noticed an issue with how Kodi handles seamless branched UHD Bluray rips(i think they are called seamless branched, the issue is not presant when playing the movie in main movie mode, but when Menu's are enabled they cause frame skips and audio drop outs when the seamless branch files switch over, movies i know it happens on so far is The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Dark Pheonix, the seamless branched files on the star wars is used i believe for the subtitled parts so the user selected language can be shown
i have tested the rips with VLC and the playback is as expected, i have tired the lastest nightly and both the HDR branches of Kodi and the issue is there, not tried a 18.6 but i dont think that can do UHD menu's

After some more reading it might not use seamless branching but could be using multi-angle
Going to see if I can find some blu rays that do it also or if just a UHD problem
I also tested coreelec on a box I have here and same problem

Well UHD Bluray playback is probably still quite niche. Are these issues only with UHD rips? do you have normal HD Bluray rips and are they all ok? It could be that libbluray is still immature with it's UHD support.

have just found it does it with X-men days of future past the rogue edition which is a standard blu-ray rip, i have not found a jump/skip/audio drop as bad as Phantom menace yet but that could be blu-ray versus UHD but the issue is presant when another file is called to either an extended scene or subtitles kodi glitches and skips/glitches/drops audio VLC does not and plays flawless

VLC uses libbluray as well as it's produced by some of the VLC devs so it's an associated project. Do you happen to know what version of libbluray your version of VLC is running? it seems we are using v1.1.2 in current Matrix nightly builds.

The version I have installed is using libbluray 1.2.0
tried a quick hack also, copied over the newer version and renamed to 1.1.2 although the movie plays i have no keyboard control so can't get past the language selection screen

it might be a cacheing issue as i first suspected and tried to give 4gig of cache to kodi as was a uhd but it seemed to have zero effect on anything i played
