Kodi 18.7 on Fire TV not playing SD TV Recordings correctly
#1
I had Kodi 18.6 install and it could render both HD and SD TV shows.
Now with Kodi 18.7 HD TV is running fine but SD TV is not fitting to the screen anymore.
The picture of SD TV is stretched vertically and is looking terrible.

I fiddled through all the video settings but could resolve the issue.
I really hate when an update breaks existing functionality.

Has anyone a tip?

Yes, fixed with this build?

First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Hi fristsch,

I had the same problem running on a Fire TV - I can't speak for the OP but this new build seems to have fixed the problem for me!

Quick work Smile

Thank you so much. Will this build put into the official download mirrors any time soon?

Nope - as NDK is deadend for us at the moment, we are looking for the error to fix it, in the meantime 18.7 play store release is stopped, so only those that manually install it, are affected - with that we win time.

This has not much to do with NDK / JNI, it is the new SCALINGMETHOD introduced with this PR.
As stated in the docs: Pixel AR is not properly handled inside android, so we should check if we can avoid the scaling method if PAR != 1.

@Klayer pls. provide a debug log of the start of such TV show, thx!

Unfortunately I have no access to my FireTV Stick because I am not at home and probably will not be in the next weeks.
So do not expect logs any time soon.
Also I would have no clue to create logs on a FireTV Stick because I have no terminal access to this device.

User using the FireTV Stick have no choice than to download manually. So all these user will be experiencing this bug.
I can make no sense out of putting a buggy Android version on the "release" server and would appreciate downgrading this version to 18.6.

2 team members (including me) have the FireStick 4K, and the new scaling method was introduced especially for this device.
For me there is no issue playing SD LiveTV channels, even interlaced material.

So, what we want to learn from your log is first what device you are using, and what TV / resolution you are on.
And many things around these topics to understand why this behaves different to our devices.

Edit: You can use the "Kodi Logfile Uploader" addon from our repository.
Pls. make sure that you enable Debug logging in kodi settings:Confusedystem::logging section, then start the show, and upload the log.

This build fixed my problem, I installed kodi 18.7 on my sony 2016 x75d but noticed that when I use allow pass through the colors of the video will be washed out and darker. this problem wasn't in kodi 18.6 and your build also fixed this.

More interesting (because its in pipeline) is, if this build : http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk fixes your issue, too.

No, This build didn't Fix the problem either, only that one with JNI revert so I suspect it has something to do with NDK / JNI, whats more interesting is I have the exact same issue with my 2015 Philips android tv and this build http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/andro...bi-v7a.apk also fixes the issue.
