missing movie backdrops (backdrop exists on TMD)
#1
Ive been searching to see if Im doing something wrong, but cant really find anything definitive.  Basically some movies don't seem to pull a backdrop.  Example being Hellboy Animated Blood & Iron, there are backdrops on TMD but when i browse my movies, that one just displays the current theme background, it happens for a number of other movies as well.  All have a backdrop on TMD.

Ive refreshed the movie but it doesnt update..

Thanks. I can immediately see the cause.

Fanart is defined as a backdrop with no text
Landscape is fanart with text

Both those movies do not have fanart, instead they have landscape images. They both have text, and they are both allocated to English as you can see in the left box.

As a comparison, look at this show which has No Language (which is fanart) as well as English and Chinese Landscape images... https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/63247-west.../backdrops

And fanart.tv does not have fanart for those two movies either... https://fanart.tv/movie/16774/hellboy-an...of-storms/

There is no fanart for Kodi to download.

So the backdrops on TMD need to have no text for them to be picked up as fanart, its as simple as that?

Correct. No text and allocated to No Language which is the default placement.

On her majestys secret service is missing the same image, however on TMD there are loads without text, I also am unable to pic one as when I go to information pick select art, the fan art has none.

If the database is missing fanart for one of your movies reuploading art in the wrong section is not the way to go. Either find appropriate artwork and upload that in the correct section or download the landscape image and rename it as fanart locally. Don't mess up the database with false language tags. Either contribute to the database or download and modify it on your own machine.

Actually since that was uploaded it fixed the issue with that title.  So it would seem its in the correct location and its the correct format.

No it's not. There was never an issue to begin with aside from the fanart section of those movies missing fanart. And you didn't upload any fanart. You uploaded a movie thumb in the fanart section and it doesn't belong there.

Basically a false fanart upload to suit your needs instead of contributing to the database. So no. It's in no way, shape or form correct.

Karellen already explained the difference between them to you.
