Dbus error on 18.7 with fedora32 leads to core dump
#1
Hi,
I've been using kodi-18.7 from rpmfusion for at least a few weeks but now it runs for a bit then crashes. I've even removed my ~/.kodi directory and restarted. It works normally out-of-the-box, but as soon as I install any repositories, such as Netflix from repository.castagnait-1.0.1.zip, it crashes shortly thereafter. This is with a Radeon HD 5700 Series display and a wayland system.

I followed the Fedora install instructions from here, except installed the kodi binaries from rpmfusion and did not build from source. I believe these are the same packages I was using for weeks without any problems.

ERROR: DBus error: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.InvalidArgs - No such property “CanHibernate”
Of course I don't know if that's the real problem, but it appears to be the only error message in the file.

The entire core dump file is here:

The entire ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log (if it's different) is here:

It's a python error.  The DBus errors are unrelated and indeed, not even important.

You might want to raise this in the netflix plugin thread as it appears to be related to that addon.

independent of the crash: building kodi v18 with ffmpeg 4.2 is not supported.

Okay, thanks. Is there a place I can find out more about compatibilities? It looks like I can only go back to 4.2.2 on fedora32.

How do people use kodi on fedora? Perhaps in a docker container?

Is there any information on when compatibility with ffmeg-4.2 will be supported?

kodi master/v19 uses ffmpeg >= 4.2

Awesome, thanks. Is this only available as a PPA nightly build that I have to compile, or are there RPMs for Fedora available?

It appears the documentation for Linux/Fedora isn't currently being maintained.

tbh, I don't know. Since we only provide official builds for ubuntu, packages for other distros is up to them and/or the community.
But there is a kodi v18 flatpak  that works everywhere

And https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master....Fedora.md should be up to date. If not, let us know
