Thank you! I was thinking about putting something together from the spare parts closet, but want HDR.

Got some issues with jerky/lagging movement during 4k hdr. It happens sporadically with no frame drops or skipping. I have no idea what it can be.
Using latest nightly

The Kodi core itself has no limitation to accept 4K / HDR video from addons / streaming as they also use VideoPlayer. The video path is common playing local / network files or streaming from addons.

e.g. the addon "PVR IPTV simple client" can streaming 4K HLG channels (and it could stream HDR10 if there is any channel that broadcasts in this format).

I do not know how the Netflix addon works but if there is any 4K / HDR limitation it is the addon itself or surely Netflix itself that only allows 4K HDR in its own official players. I don't know the details but it is probably a DRM / HDCP limitation.

Yes this is currently the problem

we need a windows dev to adds support for microsoft playready DRM also on windows for the peak3d inputstream.adaptive

here you can see one of the various request posts https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=303609&page=7

currently Netflix addons, Prime video and other similar services on kodi use peak3d's inputstream.adaptive to receive the streams, but on windows to decrypt  is used only google widevine which has limitations, for example netflix does not go beyond 1080p and the decoding is done via cpu

I believe since kodi did not support hdr when they started the work nobody took the time to add the support to microsoft playready

I'm sure @peak3d (inputstream dev) and @CastagnaIT (netflix dev) can give you more info, maybe starting a discussion by here https://github.com/peak3d/inputstream.ad...issues/504

I think that this is the next big things to do for the hdr part on windows

hi all,

thank you for making this build available. The update fixed the issue reported by me here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=343382. In general previous builds had an issue with vsync on my NIVDIA 1030 when using DXVA decoding ind 3D mode (tabbed and SBS). So this is definately fixed.

Now what is still broken when using pixel shader palyback that the lower or right part of a tabbed or SBS video stays black. One can see the menu overlay but the video is missing. See some more details described in my original thread https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=343382. It's not a big deal as DXVA is working now but it is still a bug concerning pixel shader.

thank you and kind regards,

am

Thanks for your contributions. Since you're working on HDR in Kodi, I was just wondering if you had any plans to implement HDR into the interface. My only gripe with current builds is that they are turning off the "Use HDR" switch in the Windows HD Color settings. I don't know much about coding, but I think that making the interface HDR compatible shouldn't be too hard with all the includes and stuff you're adding. Thanks in advance!

I don't understand what you mean by:

But builds with Kodi GUI interface HDR compatible are here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=359366

Oh that's great! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Looks like it will be a part of the main branch soon
