Windows 10 with TV Tuner Card
#1
Hi,
My computer has a TV Tuner Card in it, I had been using it to watch my local cable on Windows 7. I just upgraded to Windows 10 and Windows Media Center has been discontinued. If I get Kodi will I be able to watch my local cable channels with the TV Tuner Card in my Windows 10 computer? Thanks for the help

In general if you have the right type of hardware tuner that is supported then yes you should be able to get it running. This post is best handled in the Live TV and PVR section of the forum and I'll move it there. In the meantime some wiki's for you to look over.

Thanks for the response. the first link has no text and the second one is Windows Media center which will not work in Windows 10.

To get started, I suggest installing NextPVR - it's free. Don't worry about Kodi to start with, instead make sure you can see all your channels in the NextPVR viewer. Then sequence your channels and set up your groups in NextPVR (you can also do this in Kodi, but doing it in NextPVR means you can simply clear all Kodi's data and get everything back - which an get you out of a hole sometimes). Then install the NextPVR plug-in. You will then be able to view channels, record, etc. from within Kodi.

Having done all the above, you will have a better idea of how PVR and Kodi work together. If NextPVR doesn't do it for you, you can explore other options - including ones that cost money.
