Playing a DVD with 5.1 sound
#1
Hi,
This is my first post on this forum.
I'm using Kodi with a computer on Windows 10, plugged on a Denon amplifier through HDMI, which is connected to a Xiaomi laser projector.
I have sound problems with Kodi.
- If I play a movie I have on file format on my hard drive, sometimes, in the middle of the movie, the sound stops, I only have the image.
- If I play a DVD on Kodi, I can't manage to have it on 5.1 using all my speakers and the subwoofer.

I saw that if I play a file on the simple windows media for movies, I can hear 5.1 sound.

How can I do to have 5.1 sound with Kodi on all media (DVD or files) ?
Thanks for your help.

Suggest you review your audio settings and twin them with this (ensure your AVR is on and connected)

You didn't mention how you connect (HDMI cable end to end?) In Kodi set for wasapi denon driver and pass through using that driver. If your AVR & Porj are off prior to Kodi launch, handshaking will fail and directsound default will be utilized.

Thanks very much for your help, I'll check my audio settings.
About how I connect here is my setup :
I have a projector which is connected with HDMI to the AVR Denon, and then, My PC, connected to the AVR Denon with HDMI as well.

So if I understand your last sentence, I have to switch on first the projector, and then my PC and Kodi, right ?

I checked my sound setup, here are two pictures :

It seems that I have problems to hear all my speakers.
When I click on them on this panel, I can only hear the front left and front right, I don't understand why.

Any idea ?

Bur once in Kodi it seems to work !
That's strange that on windows I can't hear my speakers but I can on Kodi.

Could be some quirk in the AVR or the projector that isn't properly handling end to end handshaking; a debug log might offer a clue. Ensure that 'expert mode' is turned on in the settings menu and that you have your wasapi driver turned on in both the audio output device and audio pass-through device (you must re-start Kodi if you have made changes).

Try a Kodi setting for 2.0 channels and see what does for you.

Kodi takes full control in wasapi pass-through mode, part of the HDCP process.
