Unable to play 4k movies with Series X
#1
Hello,
Until few days ago, I was using Kodi 18.9 on my Xbox One X without any issues. I was able to play any 4k content (over NFS) basically. 2 days ago i got Xbox Series X and tried to test Kodi there. Unfortunately for reasons unknown my 4k movies (the ones i played on one x previously) are causing Kodi to shut down. Full HD content works fine. I tried different display settings in both kodi and Xbox without any luck. Any idea how to make it work?

I’m new here, but I think etiquette is to upload your debug logs

Unfortunately I am unable to edit my last post, so apologies for replying to my own messages.
To generate above log I started Kodi, enabled Logging, shut down Kodi, enabled it again and tried to start the movie. After it crashed (right after clicking play) i started Kodi again and then used Log file upload plugin to generate above link. I noticed that in my log, there is information about the instance that has been started after crash, so I am not sure whether my log contains any valuable information. I'm not 100% sure if I did it correctly so any advice on how to properly generate a log file on Xbox would be very helpful. Thank you.

Noticed that topic few minutes ago. Thank you.
Still I would appreciate a tip on how to properly generate a log file on xbox :-)

Got the same on XSX. Works fine in XOX.
Kodi crashes on movie playback when resolution is set to 4K in Kodi.
Even if 1080p, it also crashes if trying to play 4K HEVC movies.

Hi there,

Here another Xbox Series X with issues playing video in 4K and even in-home getting some crashes.
Let me know if logs are needed or so.

Kodi on my XBSX crashes too. And loading of the movies from 5TB external USB drive takes longer than doing the same on Odroid C4 with USB drive connected to router. Not to mention, than on XBSX I'm not able to read movies from the drive on router. I see the router in Kodi, but I'm unable to browse or connect lower than top folder. Not sure why. On Oroid C4 which costs about 1/10 of the XBSX everything runs fine... ☹️
