I'm able to login and view all the lists of all the various shows, but whenI actually come to watch something I've gotten mixed results

I attempted to watch WonderWoman, and the audio plays... but no video, if I choose 'Best' from the quality options.  I then proceeded to try the other quality options, and none of them showed video until I got to 2.47Mbit/s and lower

I have also tried South Park episodes, and I get the same audio/no video issue

finally, when I first tried, I was able to get Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.  however that now appears to have vanished entirely from the addon, and searching for 'last week' or 'last week tonight' returns no results.

I have used the 'reset add-on' option in the advanced section of the settings, in case I did something that 'broke' things, but no difference.

if I choose to install Widevine, I am told I have v 4.10.1582.2

no problem

restarted kodi for a clean log.  first attempt at playing Wonder Woman was a success, because I have set the quality options to 2.0MBit/s in the settings.
the second attempt, I selected 'Playback Quality' from the context menu, and selected 'Best'

compared with my Windows log and it's exactly with the same decrypt keys

Except yours has
Sessionkey:010263DA53A9422999B80DB992BB9EEC status: 3 syscode: 49
and windows has
Sessionkey:010263DA53A9422999B80DB992BB9EEC status: 0 syscode: 0

I'll need to get a Ubuntu instance up and running and have a play

Hey! Awesome job! 👏

Even though Kodi codec info is showing the audio as “pt-eac3” it is being decoded as Dolby Digital standard, not DD+. Is there a reason for this?

@matthuisman This sounds awesome!!!!! I'm going to try this tonight after work, but I can finally watch HBO content in HD again instead of SD through the Amazon addon. Also I know you're not a fan of exporting .strm files (Disney+ addon), but looking at your code I may try my export_show() function from the dead PSVue addon (R.I.P.). The Disney+ addon not able to export .strm files for shows and movies isn't that bad as there just isn't enough content worthy of letting Kodi, Plex or Emby organize it. But HBO Max is a beast with content. Thanks for this, I haven't been excited to dust off my python skills in a while!!

so current to-do

1) fix Linux higher quality playback
2) fix / redo navigation (missing franchises eg. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver)
3) investigate dolby digitial audio "pt-eac3" done
4) Subtitles (xml to srt) done
5) Watchlist
6) In progress

Does the HBO app / website have them?
Do you need to click a different language on the site / app for them to show?
the website does indeed have them, (it's a fairly safe bet that all US based video streaming platforms will contain subtitles due to legal requirements) and I didn't have to do anything specific language wise.
the format used for the subs seems a little unusual compared to any other site for example via some digging I was able to come up with
https://media.fly.cdn.hbomax.com/videos/...r0/sdh.xml

this appears to be the subtitles for the S01 E01 of 'His Dark Materials' in SMPTE-TT format.
now where this URL comes from specifically I couldn't tell you, but I just watched the network tab of the debug console in chrome until something came up that looked right.  tried a few videos and it seems the file name is always sdh.xml

As far as this is concerned it seems the Shield HBO Max app (and other devices from what I’ve read) also have similar problems. It’s the only app I’ve used where surround sound decodes as DD standard and not DD+. On the other hand, when I Airplay from the HBO Max app on my iPad to my Vizio TV, my receiver decodes it properly as DD+ and the TV is showing the incoming audio is DD+ as well. Why Kodi shows the audio track is EAC3 but is sending out DD standard is odd.
