I'm gonna give you your first and probably final warning, because personally I have zero patience with types like you.
Your attitude has slipped to into rudeness, and that will not be tolerated.

You have been told multiple times that VPN usage will not be taken into account as per our VPN policy (wiki), so do not continue to whine about that.
As outlined, we are not a 24/7 commercial help desk or software company. We are all volunteers here, and will devote our personal time as WE see fit.
Pissing off the people that are trying their best to find problem causes, is not the way to go about this. Not all software hiccups are as easy to fix.

If you continue your attitude this way, your stay at this forum could be halted abruptly.

And @nireshkhelawan:

I tested a bit but I'm having different issues:

1) No DD+ on the official HBO Max app on the Shield Pro 2019. Otherwise no video or audio issues with the official app on the Shield.

2) In Kodi: sound options seem mixed up. DD+ is wrongly shown as Stereo and good old DD is shown as DD+.

3) Random audio glitches and sometimes picture also pauses randomly. The issue may be connected to sound output but can't be too sure.

I have Dolby audio with official app

With the native app, when frame rate is matched with refresh rate I still see some judder but it’s really rare though. I have to glue my eyes to the screen to spot it t sometimes.

And I also have the audio issues like dropouts and the screen pauzes (in kodi) and then I hear the intro sound. But I only had that this morning now not anymore.

As for the kodi add on what tv are you using and what are your settings in kodi and your shield?

I still have to test but I think my problems occur when DD is selected instead of DD+. But I might be wrong. Will do more testing over the next days.

My TV is a Sony 65X9005A non-HDR 4K TV from 2013. (Motion is very good on my TV without any artefacts.)

Kodi:
- Inputstream Adaptive: min. Bandwidth: 20 million bit/s, Max/Max/Auto/All and I haven't enabled pre-release features in expert mode.
- Audio: output configuration optimized and passthrough audio enabled with everything checked since it's supported by my AV-R.
- Hardware acceleration enabled.
- And no display refresh rate adjustments. Shield resolution is already set at 1080p/23.976 (for testing purposes since HBO has no 4k content yet)

Currently I am using 18.9 but I will try out Matrix too in the upcoming days.

Shield Version: 8.2.1

Hope that helps, but speaking from experience being a member of this forum for years:

It can be a frustrating affair. So many of my questions were deliberately ignored by Team-Kodi members over the years.

You do appreciate people like @matthuisman even more because not only has he done an excellent job with his add-ons, he pretty much answers every single question and offers support almost instantly.

You don't know how rare that is - especially here in the Kodi forum. People with knowledge tend to be very arrogant. So you should be thankful.

I'll try to assist more @matthuisman and if there is a problem I'm sure it will be temporary only.

@3000
i have seen the audio hiccups. Just need time to get on my Shield and find the cause.
Do you get the video "judder" / missing frames?

Remember now that the top audio stream is DD and the 2nd down is DD+.
I removed the work-around moving DD+ to the top.

Yeah I always check on my AV-R. It's like you say. First one is DD and second is DD+.

Yes, I do get judder and missing frames too. But as far as I can tell I get all problems only with DD, not with DD+. But that may be a coincidence. I haven't had the time to test thoroughly. I will watch another movie tomorrow and will share my observations afterwards.

But for example “My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood.” there I had started it with DD selected and it stopped after 45 seconds or so. Picture and sound just froze. However switching to DD+ I had no issues (I haven't watched/listened to it all, just for a few minutes).

Did you say the official app only ever uses just DD? (not dd+)

Yeah, I have never seen any DD+ with the HBO Max app. I'm only able to use DD+ thanks to your add-on. Using the Shield Pro 2019

other content works fine, so if I had to hazard a guess, it's HBO max adding some extra layers to this movie... which is hardly surprising

Yes, looks like they are forcing VPM (verified media path) just for this movie.. even at lower qualities.
I tried playback in Ubuntu Chrome and won't work - but the others do.
Good news is, looks like it may already be getting the 4k streams, so if using Android TV Kodi - it should work as is.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Unfortunately the only way I can watch anything with both Dolby Vision+Atmos is with the 4k Fire Stick, because it's the only device I have that runs Kodi and supports both (have two older Shields without DV). Luckily The 4k Fire Stick supports H265 pretty well, and there is very minimal stuttering with 4k playback through the Kodi addons like HBO Max- it's the software H264 playback that is the issue, and I don't really need that- I can watch them through the official apps.

As far as DD vs DD+ audio goes, even lower bitrate encoded DD+ (not that much lower) should sound better than DD standard audio, and DD+ is required for Atmos anyways.

ya I figured it would be something like this.  no matter.  I picked up a chrome cast the other week, so I can use that.  I think we can also presume that all future movies (Warner are releasing all their 2021 releases on HBO Max the same day as cinemas) will be setup the same way.

Is there any path to supporting that? I assume no, but just wanted to ask on the hope it might be yes.
