Add actors as guests in TV shows
#1
First, thanks a lot for TMM to the developper. I am a happy paying user and I find this app invaluable.

It would be nice to have an option to add episode actors as "guests" in the nfo instead of in the generic TV show metadata. There as TV shows with new actors in almost each episode (see Black Mirror).

tmm already splits the "main cast" and the "guests" - the main cast is maintained in the TV show metadata whereas the guests are in the episode metadata (just go into the editor and you see it). in the TV show NFO there is only the main cast and in the episode NFO there are only guests.

You see this is only a matter of the meta data providers: if the chosen provider does not split them in the right way, tmm can't do anything about it - so going one step further, which scraper do you use?

Thanks for the reply. But imdb for instance doesn't have a "guest" category for the cast. That's why it would be useful to have tue option in TMM.

how should tmm split them apart? if imdb offers a list of "actors" for an episode, how should tmm know which ones are guests?

I think that, for TV shows such as "Black Mirror" or documentary series for instance, we simply should have the option to add all actors as guests. We should be able to choose how the tag "actors" is treated.

this is kinda hard coded in tmm:

a) there is a base cast for the whole TV show which is stored on TV show level
b) there are "guests" which are stored on episode level

this is how Kodi an tmm is designed. Most scrapers put them apart and others (like imdb) offer all actors for every episode - so we do a lookup internally (on episode level) whether the given actor is in the base cast or just a guest and we strip out base cast for episodes (on database level). In the UI we mix them together again.

I've just analyzed the first episode of black mirror and this looks exactly like KOdi and tmm was designed for
