Thanks. Seriously? This is your definition of "dead slow"? I'm out, sorry.

Um yeah it's considerably slower than on Kodi 18 and the issue might not be that striking when only navigating left once but consider skipping through a few pages

Not sure this is related to the EPG changes at all. If it is something related to rendering or the like I'm unfortunately the wrong person to investigate or fix.

Little off topic, but have you noticed the new epg window navigation controls? Hit 'n' or select "Navigate from the context menu while in the EPG window ...

So it's probably not related to changes to epg handling?

Yes, tried them a while back but personally found them a bit hard to use.

I see the difference and yes, it was definitely smoother in v18, but I don't think that it is now "dead slow". I fear this is the price for fetching the actually needed EPG data from the db (v19) versus having all epg data in RAM (v18). Not saying this can't be optimized by something in between the two straight approaches, but this is nothing I will find the time to implement anytime soon.

It can hardly be called smooth in Kodi 19 at all but if that's the price for making the epg work on ancient devices like rpi 1 which lack the juice to properly run Kodi on most other ends anyway while at the same time ruining the ux on higher performance devices quite a bit then I guess we'll all have to pay for that.

Thanks for your support though. Seems I was at least right with my suspicion.

I think my Problem with the slow EPG is the very slow USB Stick. I suppose that this is the cause for the EPG speed. Is there a way to have EPG into RAM. I have enogth space for that.

No, not possible. But you could move the epg database to a faster storage device.

I researched and found the Linux command tempfs. My problem is:
  • which directory contain the epg at moment?
  • how many space do I need?
  • how do I do that on libreelec?
