Solved LibreELEC - Audio suddenly stops working for "normal" audio only
#1
Symptoms
- GUI sounds not playing
- Audio from "simple" files not playing (mono, stereo)
- Audio from "advanced" files playing fine (DTS, Dolby 5.1)

Running
- LibreELEC 9.2.4 (Generic x86_64) (kernel: Linux 5.1.16)
- Kodi 18.8.0 Git: 18.8-Leia, Compiled 2020-07-29
- GPU: GeForce GTS 450/PCIe/SSe2
- CPU: Intel Pentium G640 @ 2.80GHz
- Passthru on

Detailed instructions to reproduce the problem
- navigate the menus, note no sound playing
- play video with DTS audio, note sound plays fine
- play video with stereo only audio, note no sound playing
- play video with Dolby 5.1, note sound plays

Troubleshooting 101
- This happens from time to time (less than 1x/year) and rebooting everything usually solves it
- tried several reboots, altering startup order amongst TV, computer, receiver
- some files work, others don't - ruling out bad speaker wires, receiver on mute, etc.

I should add under Troubleshooting...
- with a file that plays correctly, I tried toggling Passthru.  It works only when enabled.
- with a file that is not playing correctly, toggling Passthru has no effect (nor changing any other setting I've tried)
- By "reboot" I mean both soft and hard reboots, including disconnecting from power for 60+ seconds

Everything was working fine earlier today.  I can't know 100%, of course, but I'm 99.8% sure no one changed any settings or any cables (no one would dare).  There were no power outages that I'm aware of.  My Chromecast connected to the same receiver works without issue.

AAC audio and MP3 audio just do not work.  DTS 5.1 DTS-MA 5.1, DTS-MA 7.1, Dolby 5.1, Dolby-HD 5.1 - these all work fine.    It is very difficult to search for this issue as most people complain that DTS does not work, when for me that's practically all that does work :-)

Okay, so I'm an idiot.  Someone somehow turned down Kodi's volume.  The passthru codecs worked, of course, because they passed through Kodi.

That's an hour and a half of my life I'm never getting back.
