adding item to main menu
#1
hello,

I am using Aeon Tajo and I want to make a custom item in the main menu to add a podcast, but I failed to do so.

Here is how I did it:

this is the link to the podcast: https://feeds.buzzsprout.com/1056514.rss
so I added the link as a source in my video library: https://imgur.com/8gLVmL0
then in "Files" section, all the podcasts appear normally: https://imgur.com/kxkEppt
I add the custom item to the main menu: https://imgur.com/b67iCjK
and I added the action to that item by browsing to Video Library > Sources > Podcasts
so a new item in the main menu appears called "Podcasts" as expected, but this what I see when I click it: https://imgur.com/D2BECdE

but I want to see the list of podcast episodes similar to what I see from the files menu but from the "podcasts" item that I added to the main menu.
How can I achieve that if possible?

thanks in advance Smile

Did you try setting it as a favourite?

unfortunately I tried with the sub menu but it did not work. Even the submenu goes to the same thing as I posted before.

I  installed Aeon Nox Silvo and it is same behaviour. I  am not sure if this is a coincidence that it doesn't work in both skins or maybe Aeon Tajo based on Aeon Nox or is it kodi thing... if you know any other skin that I can test this on, let me know

It’s not a coincidence. In fact the menu options are not managed directly by the skin, but skinshortcuts script, so all the skins that use that script will behave the same way...

No, I don’t mean that, never give up... What I mean is that Aeon Tajo threads are not the best place to get help about that. You should have a look at script.skinshorcuts thread...

After trying this myself, I have no problem adding it as a favourite in a submenu option. I think that your problem could be that you are adding your rss source to the VIDEO library, and you should add a rss podcast source to the MUSIC library instead...

I actually tried to add it as music and delete it and add it as favourite, but still no matter how I add it, it only opens the same screenshot I posted. I am not sure why it doesn't go directly to the episodes or at least to the podcast folder. If not too much to ask, can you please post steps and the screenshots for how you did it? Thank you Smile

I made a video here about adding it to music library. you will notice when I open the favourite there are other two podcast, these are also from the failed trials to add it as video library and to add it as only favourite. this is the link to the video. https://streamable.com/p0pdr3

I also tried to add it as rss instead of https

hey thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. I followed your steps and still same thing. Maybe something is broken in my skin or in kodi. I will do a fresh reinstall Smile  but now I know it should work the way I want it
