Installed from ZIP. Now it's version 1.3.2+matrix.1. I tried refreshing one of the problem movies and now it works! Cool!

I tried Update Video Library as a way to refresh everything at once, but it seems I have to refresh each individual movie that is missing a poster.

Is this the expected behavior?

P.S. I'll be sure to update manually in the near future, to get back on track with auto-updates.

Yes.

Update Library looks to add new items to the library. Doesn't care about what is already in the library.
Refresh deals with items in the library.
