Oops, I haven’t updated the wiki since the last major update.
No, indeed, basic integration has been removed in order to keep things light. Installation is now quite easier since you can find the addon on Kodi default repository, so for me that made the need for basic integration less important.
Is there any reason you’d prefer basic integration over IPTV Manager?
(open question, just for me to understand your needs, I may have missed something)

Ok. The problem you'll face is that those m3u8 files are rebuilt on a regular basis, so any modification won't last. Moreover, URLs in it redirect to the different TV plugins, so you can't really bypass this layer.
For me the lightest build should be to find the TV streams actually used by your ISP. Free shares them, but for the other ones, I nerver found a way a properly get it. This is the "why" I got to this plugin, redirecting the web TV streams instead of the IPTV streams.
IPTV Manager is "just" a standardised way to transfer data from TV plugins to IPTV Simple PVR. It also allows you to merge streams from different plugins into one single list, used by IPTV Simple PVR.
Feel free to send a PM if you want to dig a bit deeper into that stuff.
