so I'm trying to install projectm on ubuntu (an x86_64 htpc i built) and i get it installed, but when i try to play music kodi crashes right away.
to install it I had to install the kodi-visualization-projectm package from my OS package manager; the wiki makes no mention of this but it's the only way to get the addon for projectm to show up in 'my addons' under 'visualizations' where the wiki says to look for it. I tried running through the steps to manually compile and install it as described in https://github.com/xbmc/visualization.projectm to no avail cuz I didn't compile kodi myself and all the stuff is in different places than the make commands expect. I thrashed on this for a while but couldn't get the build to work and gave up. regardless, i expected the projectm bundled in kodi-visualization-projectm to work. when I run projectm as installed by the OS (not trying to install it as part of kodi, just apt-get install projectm then running projectM-pulseaudio) it works just fine. I was in a bad state cuz of trying to manually compile and install it so I wiped out the kodi projectm files to try and get myself out of it but couldn't get the kodi addon to show back up
so now I reinstalled the OS kodi projectm package and I'm able to replicate the crash. the debug logs are empty immediately after it tries starting the visualization, and kodi hangs for around 30s on the music player then closes. is there some kind of way to make the extension just use projectm as installed by my OS? the lack of logs will make fixing the kodi-bundled projectm difficult i think
