Android Letting the Android TV handle Dolby Digital Plus Audio.

I am using a Sony X7500H coupled with a Denon AVR X550BT. My TV Does not support DD+ passthrough through ARC, but can transcode it to Dolby Digital and Send it to the receiver.

Whenever a play a video with DD+ Audio in KODI, My receiver only receives 2 channel PCM. I am having to switch to the native media player app of the TV to get Dolby Digital Audio from DD+ Tracks, which is quite annoying given the fact that Sony's Native Media Player App is so Buggy. Is there a way to implement this?

P.S. - I faced the same issue with the Disney Plus Hotstar App, and they fixed it so now I get Dolby Digital Audio in select titles. So I think there might be a way to implement this in KODI as well.

Any Alternatives and/or Suggestions are appreciated!

You didn't tell us what Kodi settings you are using, however this might help https://kodi.wiki/view/Audio_quickstart_guide

Hey! Thanks for replying soon. I am sorry for being vague in my query. Here are my Audio settings - Channels - 2, Sample Size - Medium, Audio Passthrough enabled with Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus & DTS Support checked.

Let me also throw more light on my issue. My AVR supports DD, DD+, DTS and PCM 2.0 over ARC. But apparently my TV cannot passthrough DD+ and instead transmit PCM 2.0 whenever I play a DD+ Title. But there is a feature in the TV where DD+ audio is handles through Sony's Internal API calls, It transcodes the DD+ plus track to DD in real-time. So I was hoping that there might be a way to route DD+ audio via the TV instead of Passthrough. Apparently it can be done, since as mentioned before, Disney+ Hotstar Team implemented this feature after I raised an issue on their support site.

Thanks in Advance!

You could try letting Kodi do the transcoding rather than relying on the TV firmware. If you un-tick "Dolby Digital+ (E-AC3)" and tick "Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding" then Kodi should transcode EAC3 to AC3, which would hopefully fix the issue.

Thank you. I will get back to you after trying it out.

I tried out what you said. KODI either does not produce any sound, or crashes this time.

Okay, can you post a Debug Log so we can see more detailed information https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file

I am unable to access the debug log because I was unable to locate the file using any free file manager application for android tv. Is there is any other way to generate the required info?

I think the Log Uploader addon is broken, however you should be able to use Kodi's File Manager to access the file.
