Release Kodi Matrix UWP Xbox v19.1 Preview
#1
v19.1-Preview Xbox
Updated at 27-04-2021 (forked from Kodi Matrix v19.0).

Includes fix for 4K HEVC playback (expandedResources Capability).

https://github.com/thexai/xbmc/releases

Wanted volunteers who can test this version on Xbox (it's necessary through sideload and developer account).

There is no one from the Team who has the hardware and at the same time has interest/availability to do tests at this time.

It's about validating that there are no major bugs before uploading the final version to the store. It would be perfect to confirm the correct functionality playing 4K HEVC if possible with HDR TV. In general rule out critical bugs that may be a problem for current users of version 18.9.

Thank you all!

Hi,

I can help too a little bit.

I have a developer account.
I can reproduce the 4k "out of memory" problem with current released Kodi Xbox version on Microsoft Store.
I have a Xbox One on a 720p not-hdr lcd tv.
I have also a Xbox Series X on a 4k hdr oled tv.
Both of them running Kodi with a collection of 1000+ videos and movies (including 1080p and 4k videos with and without hdr) on smb and dlna shares (including nfo/poster/fanart files).

Thx

Hey, I want to help too!
Got an XBox Series X on an LG CX 65 TV, and an Xbox One on a Samsung 1080p capable TV from around 2008.
Some quick newbie questions though:
  • What should I do? simply d/l the files on the xbox and load Kodi and use it to see everything works?
  • If there's a bug, where do I report it?
  • Is there a testing plan to follow?

I'm not even able to install it properly at the moment.
Failure reason: error 0x8007000D
Is the appx corrupted?

Ok so it launches anyway even after that install error.

However, looks like an issue with network connectivity. Trying to add any sources comes either comes up with a failed to connect error (if https) or comes up empty when then trying to find anything in it (if http).
Cannot browse kodi repository either.
I see that this has previously been reported in another thread when someone was testing a nightly build on xbox (see post 15) :https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=359919&pid=3015548#pid3015548

Log file here which reflects the activity to browse kodi repository only:

At this time the most important thing is the stability in local video playback (smooth playback, correct fps, etc.) 1080p / 4K.

Also confirm that the crash due to lack of memory with 4K HEVC has been fixed.

Probably the add-ons / repository will not be able to work until everything is installed normally from the store. Maybe something is not synchronized due different versions.

I really don't know since it's not my area.

For now we can only test built-in addons and local video playback.

Confirmation that HDR10 passthrough works would be wonderful  Smile

That makes sense. Will see what I can do.
