All relevant Xbox fixes has been merged into master/Matrix branch and is available the first nightlie build with all included. Can be considered a v19.2 RC for Xbox.

This is the change log:
  • Fixed: crash playing 4K HEVC videos due out of memory.
  • Fixed: GUI rendered at 1080 and upscaled to 4K instead of native 4K.
  • Fixed: 4K resolution wrong reported on logs as 1920x1080.
  • Fixed: crash when "Switch display refresh rate at Start/Stop" enabled with 4K resolution.
  • Fixed: tone mapping not used by default at playback HDR videos.
  • Fixed: missing display refresh rate info on Debug Info OSD video (Alt+O).
  • Improved: swapchain performance using DXGI_SWAP_EFFECT_FLIP_DISCARD.
  • Improved: 10-bit swapchain surfaces used if is detected HDR capable TV (even for SDR videos).
  • Fixed: not working SSL internet connectivity due not usable path to build-in CA certs bundle.
  • Fixed: video playback not perfect smooth due not optimal back buffers number used.
  • Improved: HEVC DXVA decoder performance using 128-byte aligned decoder surfaces.
  • Cleanup: removed workaround code for limited memory on DXVA decoder.

It has been a long road plenty of difficulties to get everything to work well. HDR passthrough will be attempted later...

NOTE: addons included in the installer are not up to date so is normal the version check error at fist run until addons are auto-updated.

For maximum quality is recommended white list only 3840x2160 video modes and in Settings / Player enable "Switch display refresh rate at Start/Stop".
And form contextual video menu (video settings) while playing HDR video set Tone Mapping method to "Hable" and make sure scaling and deinterlacing methods are set both to DXVA. Then hit button "Set as default for all media".

Nice job! Great fixes!

Currently updating my Xbox with the latest nightly build too.

So do the latest updates mean Kodi on the Xbox is just as good as it is on the nVidia Shield TV?

I'm thinking of replacing my 2015 Shield TV with a Xbox Series S.

We don't have HDR payback working yet if that's important to you.

Is the menu interface / UI smooth without any lag?

Long time lurker, first time poster here. Thanks team for the hard work. I can not wait to try.

I hope in near future with the HDR and audio passthrough support Xbox will become one of the best devices to use Kodi.

Do you have to pay for a developer account?

Hi,

When can we expect to have this as in update on Xbox app store?

Currently v18 crashes after 1 minute on the xbox series x and not sure why.. installed fresh download but keeps happening. Hope to tackle this with v19

Thanks.

Yes, but it's only about £14 ($19).
