friends I have ryzen 3 3200g with vega graphics 8, kodoi19 matrix, Samsung qled q70r
When I play a 4k hdr movie, kodi doesn't automatically switch to 10 or 12 bits, it stays in 8 bits, shouldn't it change automatically?
I'll leave pictures, check it out with the avr denon s920w in information.

hdr works perfectly, I use amazon fire stick 4k, all in hdr, also nvidia shield perfectly, only with kodi does not change to 10 bits

review all those settings and all right, could you try if really kodi changes to 12 bits when playing a 4k hdr file please? or what configuration I need to do, the pc is in full rgb 444 and kodi in full too

Don't think you're ever going to see 12 bit as there's no 12 bit content available, all commercially available HDR content is currently 10 bit only. Have you checked the details of the movie/s with MediaInfo to make sure it's a proper 10 bit HDR file/s?

when I put the pc in 12 bits, it goes into 12-bit or 10-bit avr info, my query is, if kodi automatically switches to 10 bits when it detects 10-bit 4k hdr video, depending on the settings they said on another post, pc should go in 8 full rgb bits, and makes the change automatically, but does not

Yes with Nvidia and Intel when video driver settings are at defaults:



You can force 8-bit always:




Or you can force 10-bit always:




In any case, effective output format are limited at what devices supports: AVR, TV and what HDMI handshake decides.

if you switch desktop temporarily to 4k23 12bpc rgb and switch desktop back to 4k60 8bpc rgb
the driver (or windows?) will remember that and next time you play a 4k23 movie kodi will switch to 12bpc rgb (last used bitdepth for that resolution/refresh rate combination).
