Erm... What does launching Google Maps have to do with playing music in Kodi..?!? Perhaps you can best explain it to us like we are 5-year olds, and tell us what you really want.

Kodi itself works via 'scrapers', they collect metadata of video and music files, so that the metadata can be stored into a database. Kodi is not a standalone music player per se, and should not be treated as such.
If you still want to go to your MP3 files using Kodi, then navigate via Music / Files / <your MP3 music folder>/.
