#1
Hi, I'm quite inexperienced. I use Kodi (v.19.1 Android 64x) with Shield TV (2017 yo) and Sony Bravia TV (65").
Every time I open Kodi I see a bad screen dor one or two senconds before the desktop appears. I attach you a pic.

I noticed if I choose 25.00 Refresh rate I don't have that screen problem, but if I choose 50.00 Refresh rate I have that problem.
I only watch UHD videos. Do I have to choose 25.00 Refresh rate?

When the desktop appears, I see a previw of a video at the top of the desktop.
I never what to watch videos with Kodi but onlyu my documentaries made by myself in UHD.
How can I remove that preview? I the past time I didnt see that preview. It has come now. I attach you the pic.

Thanks to help me to solve my problems.

That's the Matrix splash screen - what's wrong with it exactly?

That's the new Shield home screen and nothing to do with Kodi.

I don't understand if I have to choose 25.00 or 50.00 Refresh. Which of the two do you suggest to choose if I watch UHD files only?
I was worried because I didn't see that ugly screen with the previous version.
I thank you!

Use the highest one you can for a smoother UI. You probably didn't see it because your TV was changing refresh rate and blacked the screen.

Ok, I will choose the highest one, but I can assure you that with 25.00 I don't have that problem. In fact I choose 25.00 and then I watched a TV show for some minutes and when I opened Kodi again and I didn't notice that Matrix splash screen.

Maybe it was still running in the background and didn't need to show it.

That's not a 'bad screen' - that's just the loading 'splash' screen for Kodi when the app is first opened after it has been closed or the Shield has been rebooted. It's just the 'front page' showing you the version of Kodi you are running. The graphic is like graphics from the movie 'The Matrix', and that version of Kodi is called Matrix.

It's NOTHING to worry about.

You may not see it every time you go to Kodi, as once the app is running it usually stays loaded in the background, so when you go back into it, you don't see that splash screen (that only appears when you re-load Kodi when it's not previously been running)

I run with my UI frame rate at 50Hz.
